Buy a New OS

This problem that Microsoft is having at the moment with WGA, I thought that maybe people – who want to upgrade their Win95/98 machines – shouldn’t look as far as getting XP or Vista. They should just stick with Steve Gibsons preferred Windows OS, Windows 2000!

But no, you can’t buy that any more. Or can you? Who would buy an OS that’s 7 year, 6 months and 8 days old? Well, actually and apparently, you can still get it on Amazon! Pure – Dead – Brilliant!

Mean while, copies of Tiger are getting lonelier and lonelier on the shelves..

isn’t Windows2000 now outside of Microsoft’s ‘Extended Support’ period.
…so effectively they’re never patching or going to give a crap about it again ?

bring back DOS 6.0 i say, back in those days you had to Learn something about how your computer worked just to make it do something. i’m kidding, but i can honestly say, if it wasn’t for all the futzing around in DOS you had to do to get all those early ’90s games to run i wouldn’t be where i am today.
which as it happens is in stockholm, today.

At some point between then and now I must have forgotten that it all used to happen on the command line.

I remember Doom being one of the first games back then not being able to fit on a set of floppies without compressing some of the files.
